More Than Eye Care: The Compassion and Commitment of Dr. Jurangal

When asked what this recognition means to him, Dr. Jurangal shared it’s a tremendous honor.
“As an ophthalmologist, my greatest reward is helping patients preserve or regain their vision and improve their quality of life. This acknowledgment reflects not only my efforts but also the support of my colleagues, mentors, staff and family. It motivates me to continue providing excellent patient care, advancing my knowledge, and contributing to the field of ophthalmology.”

Dr. Jurangal’s passion for eye care began with a simple yet powerful realization: vision shapes how we experience the world!
He was drawn to ophthalmology because it uniquely combines medicine, surgery, cutting-edge technology and meaningful patient relationships. What continues to inspire him is witnessing the impact that improved vision can have on a person’s independence, confidence and quality of life.
Among the many patients Dr. Jurangal has cared for, one experience continues to stand out. A patient suffering from advanced corneal disease had experienced significant vision loss that affected daily activities such as reading, driving and maintaining independence. Following a successful corneal transplant and recovery, the patient’s vision improved dramatically.
During a follow-up appointment, the patient became emotional while describing their ability to once again enjoy hobbies, family activities and everyday experiences that had been lost because of declining vision. For Dr. Jurangal, that moment perfectly captured why he chose ophthalmology.
“Moments like that remind me why I chose ophthalmology and continue to motivate me every day.”
Dr. Jurangal believes that great eye care extends beyond clinical expertise. According to him, the most important qualities of an outstanding eye care provider are:

When he isn’t caring for patients, Dr. Jurangal enjoys spending time with family, skiing, traveling and staying active. Skiing is one of his favorite hobbies because it allows him to enjoy the outdoors while challenging himself. He also enjoys making the most of quality time with loved ones.
